Travel information (last update: March 1, 2019)

My office is located in the Freihaus Building of TU Wien, which is very close to the underground station Karlsplatz (U1, U2, U4). To plan your journey, you can use the online planner of the Viennese public transport. A ticket for a single trip in one direction (core zone of Vienna, so-called Zone 100) costs EUR 2,40. An overview of the available time tickets can be found here.

Travel to Vienna by train

If you arrive at Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna main station), follow the red sign to reach the underground U1. Then, take the U1 (direction Leopoldau) to Karlsplatz (2 stops).

If you arrive at Wien Westbahnhof (Vienna west station), follow the orange sign to reach the underground U3. Then, take the U3 (direction Simmering) to Volkstheater (4 stops). There, follow the purple sign to reach the underground U2. Then, take the U2 (direction Karlsplatz) to Karlsplatz (2 stops).

Travel to Vienna by plane

If you arrive at Flughafen Wien-Schwechat (Vienna International Airport, VIE), you have essentially two options to reach the city center by public transport: train or bus.
