Short Curriculum Vitae

Dr Suess teaches Computational material science at the University of Vienna. In 2005 he visited the Hitachi/IBM Almaden research lab. Dr Suess explores many issues in nanotechnology, including magnetic nanostructures, nanocomposite permanent magnets and magnetoacoustic sensors. In 2004 Dr Suess proposed the new magnetic recording media concept exchange spring media, which significantly increased the areal density of current hard disks. He also studied issues related to optimization algorithms for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and material optimization. Dr Suess co-authored more than 110 refereed scientific papers, including top journals in physics as Physical Review Letters and Applied Physics Letters. He has given 28 invited talks at the major international conferences in the field.
